Summer Camp - 2009

Young'ns (completed 2nd-3rd grade)
June 21 - June 24 OR June 24 - June 26 - Young'ns A
July 12 - July 15 OR July 15 - July 17- Young'ns B
Young'ns is a half week program. These first-time campers how everyone has gifts from God - no matter what ones age - and that we are all called to serve. Young’ns features age-specific activities including Bible study, swimming, games, songs, campfires, and arts & crafts.

Young’ns A is Sunday - Wednesday
Young’ns B is Wednesday - Friday
Cost - $175, including T-shirt ($160 if paid in full by April 15, 2009)

Yearlings (completed 4th-6th grade)
June 21 - June 26
July 12 - July 17
July 26 - July 31
New friends spend a week learning to appreciate the gifts they have been given and, in turn, identifying their responsibility to use those gifts for God. Yearlings will be challenged to explore how we are freed to serve, called to serve, and sent to serve. This program offers a week-long camping experience with Bible study, worship, archery, swimming, hiking, field games, arts & crafts, songs, campfires, and the low ropes and challenge courses.
Cost - $350, including T-shirt ($320 if paid in full by April 15, 2009)

Adventurers (completed 6th-9th grade)
June 14 - June 19
July 26 - July 31
Adolescents are at the age when they begin to question and explore their role in the world. This year's program will help them to explore their gifts - and how their particular gifts are calling them to serve in particular ways. Adventurers will experience God’s riches through Bible studies designed to open their eyes to their gifts and their call. The week is filled with fellowship, Bible studies, singing, worship, arts and crafts, swimming, campfires, and archery.
Cost - $350, including T-shirt ($320 if paid in full by April 15, 2009)

Confirmation Camp (age per home pastor's approval)
July 19 - July 24
Bring your confirmation class to Briarwood for a week of exploring your faith in new ways. Young people come to Confirmation Camp with friends from their own congregation along with their pastor or confirmation teacher. At camp they learn and study God’s Word in the outdoor setting, led by their own teachers. Campers enjoy all the traditional activities of camp and are able to meet new friends from other churches in their cabin groups. Join with others in the opportunity to grow closer to one another and to God by spending a week living and experiencing God’s creation.
Cost - $350, including T-shirt ($320 if paid in full by April 15, 2009)

Explorers (completed 9th - 12th grade)
June 14 - June 19
July 26 - July 31
Explorers is designed for challenge and equip senior high youth to deeply explore their God given gifts and their call. This intensive week will show youth how they are freed to serve, created to serve, called to serve, saved to serve, and sent to serve. The week is filled with fellowship, Bible studies, singing, worship, arts and crafts, swimming, campfires, archery, and - weather permitting - a local canoe trip.
Cost - $375, including T-shirt ($345 if paid in full by April 15, 2009)

Lutheran Youth Leadership Experience (LYLE) I (completed 10th - 11th grade)
June 14 - June 26
LYLE is a leadership development program that combines leadership skills, service, individual gifts and experiences. The program prepares young adults to stand as leaders not only in their own congregations but also in the community, serving others and engaging in a living faith. LYLEs will also have the opportunity for fellowship, Bible studies, singing, worship, arts and crafts, swimming, campfires, archery, and - weather permitting - a local canoe trip.
Cost for two weeks - $495, including T-shirt ($450 if paid in full by April 15, 2009)

Lutheran Youth Leadership Experience (LYLE) II (completed 11th - 12th grade)
July 12 - July 17
LYLE II provides expanded leadership learning experiences for those who have completed LYLE 1 and have completed the 11th grade OR for those who have completed 12th grade with no prior LYLE experience. LYLE IIs will also have the opportunity for fellowship, Bible studies, singing, worship, arts and crafts, swimming, campfires, archery, and - weather permitting - a local canoe trip.
Cost for two weeks - $495, including T-shirt ($450 if paid in full by April 15, 2009)

Summer Staff/Young Adult Trip (completed high school)
August 2 to August 7
This week long adventure will be something new for Briarwood. Detailed information will follow; however, we are exploring the possibilities of a mission trip, backpacking adventure, or week long canoe trip. Check back here for details - or check out the Summer 2009 brochure (expected to be published in December 2008).

Summer Staff Training (Optional Training Session)
This week includes training for lifeguard certification, advanced first aid, and CPR training. Staff going through this training will be compensated at a higher rate during the summer.
